Alpaca Behavior

Alpacas are gentle and intelligent animals. They are very easy to train. Alpacas are social, they like living in herds and are considered disease-resistant animals. They should never be raised alone. Spitting is a communication behavior between alpacas. They also make humming sounds. These animals rarely spit at people unless provoked. Alpacas are ruminants with a three compartment stomach. They need grass and fresh water.
